Improvements on Route 7 near Lake Lotawana Will Reduce Traffic to One Lane

July 13, 2010

Improvements on Route 7 at Gate 3 , Lake Lotawana Will Reduce Traffic to One Lane

The Missouri Department of Transportation will begin roadway improvements Wednesday along Route 7 between Route 50 and Colbern Road. This project will provide a smoother and safer surface for the more than 7,000 vehicles using the road daily.

The $1.5 million project, awarded to Chester Bross Construction, will provide widening with new turn lanes at Gates 3, 4, 5, and 6 in Lake Lotawana to improve safety and traffic flow through the area. Also, crews will be installing four-foot-wide shoulders with rumble stripes along this four mile section of Route 7.
On July 14, crews will mobilize at Gate 3 to begin construction of new left turn lanes. All work will be done between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane and maneuver through the construction zone by a flagging operation. Once work at each gate is done, the crew will begin work on the shoulders with all work scheduled to be completed by Nov. 1.
