Jackson County Executive Announces Advisory Committee for Prosecuting Attorney Appointment
At the April 4th meeting of the Jackson County Legislature, County Executive Mike Sanders outlined the process for appointing a new County Prosecutor.
The appointee will fulfill the term of current Prosecutor Jim Kanatzar who was named to the 16th Judicial Circuit bench by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon last week.
Sanders named a five-person advisory committee who will work with the Mid-America Regional Council to conduct public hearings, including candidate interviews. The committee will accept input from citizens. Following the interviews, the committee will forward three applicants to the County Executive who will then make the appointment, subject to disapproval by the County Legislature.
“We have to do everything we can to ensure a fair, open and transparent process,” said Sanders. “The Jackson County Prosecutor is one of the premier legal positions in the Midwest and thus, we must be as thorough as possible in appointing someone to this post.”
Applications and resumes will be accepted until April 15. Application information can be found on www.jacksongov.org., beginning April 5.

● Ross Nigro, Jr. (Alternate) – Fox, Partee & Nigro
*Mr. Nigro will serve on the committee should any member be unable to fulfill their duties.
