Area football fans who canít wait until fall to get their football fix can get some relief this spring to early summer by attending KC Renegades Indoor football games. The Renegades play a 12-game schedule from Mid March to Mid June. A Renegade is defined as a Rebellious individual who rejects conventions or laws of a group. Many of the players who make up the roster of this new sports franchise in Kansas City hope they rebel all the way to a championship in this inaugural season of the CPIFL. The first year CPIFL stands for Champions Professional Indoor Football League.

Leeís Summit resident and Co-owner of the KC Renegades Jeremy Ploeger says fans will enjoy following the 10-team league which is a regional one. Teams play in nearby cities such as Omaha, Neb., Salina, KS, Sedalia, MO and Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Renegades play their home games at KCís Kemper Arena because fans can tailgate there before games.

Leeís Summit has several connections with the new Sports kid in town. One of them is Ex-KC Chief Alphonso Hodge who is in his 2nd year in arena football. A 2005 5th round draft Choice of the Kansas City Chiefs Hodge now serves as Director of Sports performance at Boost in Leeís Summit. The 30-year old Hodge has also played for the New York Jets and in Canada. Hodge keeps playing the game for the "Fun of keep doing it". Hodge wants to continue working in the sports performance field after his playing days are through. Another Leeís Summit player on the Renegades roster this season has been Tom Frevert.

Tom Frevert, a Place-Kicker for the KC Renegades is in his First year in Arena football. Frevert though is also looking to his future. For right now Frevert wants to keep playing. He says it Would be nice to move on to higher league and get a shot! He Loves to see family and friends in the stands. A Licensed Physical therapist, Tom is licensed in 3 states. His goal is someday Opening his own place with his wife as an occupational therapist. Frevert keeps his skills sharp for the Renegades by Practicing kicks at Leeís Summit North High School where he played HS Football. Later he Went on to star at Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, MO.

If you wish to see Hodge, Frevert and the rest of the Renegades play there are two home games left in the regular season. May 4th vs Sioux City and May 25th vs Topeka.
