Kevin And Larry Marak Of Belle’s Fine Toffee

Belle’s Fine Toffee, made in Lee’s Summit using a 1930s recipe, was a favorite stop at the Empty Bowls. This was their first time at Empty Bowls and they were a great hit.

The toffee melts in your mouth, unlike any other. Belle’s Fine Toffee contains only water, cane sugar, creamery butter, a small amount of corn syrup (no high-fructose), and whole, natural almonds.

"As a finishing touch, we dip each piece of toffee in the finest imported Belgian milk or dark chocolate," he said.

They use Callebaut Imported Belgian Chocolate, one of the largest chocolate companies in the world. There are a dozen different flavors and different types of milk and dark chocolate.

Larry Marak said, "We will be participating in the downtown Lee’s Summit Chocolate Crawl this year. Stop by A Thyme of Everything for a sample.."

Chocolate Crawl starts at 10 a.m. at the new Stanley (312 SE Douglas) to pick up a map and a full-size chocolate bar, courtesy of Baird Group Real Estate. From there, follow the balloons throughout Downtown to participating stores where delicious chocolate treats will be handed out to get you in the mood for Valentine’s Day.

    Hi Larry! I just received an e-mail about you and your wonderful toffee, and the toffee that you sent Coach Martin...that they LOVED! I had no idea you did this! Good for you! I make toffee every Christmas and I LOVE it! I'm sure it's not as good as what you turn out, but I could sure eat the entire pan all by myself anyway! And, after reading Carole's note about it, tomorrow I'm gonna stir up a batch! : )
    It's great to see Halstead classmates doing great things! We missed you at the last reunion......Carole and I wondered when they were here last Saturday, if there will be any more of them!
    At any rate...Hello....and keep up the good work! And I'm so glad you're keeping in touch with the Martins. Such nice people. I know we all wish the best for Coach!
