Late Tuesday night at the Republican watch party held at the Ameline Ball Room, Will Kraus, Republican candidate for Missouri Senate, 8th District, took the stage and introduced Nola Wood, the Republican candidate for the 45th House district of Missouri. He thanked her for running in a tough district where it was an uphill battle. “We have to run in these districts to force our opponents to spend money.” Wood, thanked her supporters but faced the reality that she would probably lose the seat to her opponent, Jason Hosman.
Kraus then introduced Bob Spence, Republican winner for the Jackson County Legislature.
Kraus would not come out and say that he had won, but at that point, over 50% of the votes were in and he held a 70 to 30% lead over his opponent, Kevin Parr.
Kraus then introduced Noel Torpey, Republican Candidate for District 52. “Noel is the most energetic candidate I have ever worked with.” Torpey shared that, “I had a call from the Examiner and they have declared me the winner.” His opponent in the race was Robbie Makinen.
Kraus later said that should he win, which at that point looked likely, he would “continue to stand on his conservative principals and serve the people who put him in office, just as my predecessor Matt Bartle did.” “This victory tonight is part of a significant referendum against the agenda of President Obama.”
