Residents of Lake Lotawana endured their own frightful weather Monday night. Lake Lotawana Police Chief Randal Wilson described the conditions left after the storm blew through.
”Our only issues arose when we lost power to the sewer plant,” the chief said. “All of that has come back on-line as of yesterday.” Lift stations were operated by generators, he said, and services continued until KCPL could repair downed power lines and damaged poles.
LLPD officers worked late into the night Monday night alongside the fire department to help wherever it was needed. “I have not as yet been made aware of any injuries that resulted from the storm,” he said.
Despite a number of downed trees and damaged boats and docks, the chief considers the community lucky. “I think we were very fortunate here, given what our neighboring cities are now having to deal with,” he said
An update from the Lake Lotawana Homeowner’s Association described the damage as “docks broken loose, runaway boats, downed trees, damaged roofs and windows.” The HOA further recommended that homeowners get out and assess damage to their own properties.
