Lee's Summit FIRST Robotics Three Teams Host Open House

February 8, 2014

As part of the FIRST Robotics Competition, Lee’s Summit R-7 Alliance would like to invite the public to their Open House.

The Lee’s Summit R-7 Alliance consists of three robotics teams, one from Lee’s Summit High School, one from Lee’s Summit North High School, and one from Lee’s Summit West High School.

The Open House will be held on Sunday, February 9th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the Northwest corner of the Lee’s Summit High School campus.

On this day, the three robotics teams will showcase their robot, animation, CAD, publications, and much more.

This opportunity will allow you to see how high school students and industry professionals (team mentors) work together to create a unique, sophisticated piece of machinery as well as many other projects.

The three robotics teams participate in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) which encourages science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in schools around the United States and the world. FIRST has three divisions intended for three different age groups: we are part of the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). The FRC is for high school students and involves building robots to compete in regionals around the United States and other countries.

In addition to the Open House, they would also like to invite you to the Greater Kansas City Regional, which takes place from Thursday, March 13 through Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Metropolitan Community College Business and Technology Center. All three Robotics teams will be competing at this regional.

They encourage you to visit the program’s website, www.usfirst.org. For more information on the Greater Kansas City Regional, visit www.kcfirst.org.
