The LSHS blood drive will take place in the school's cafeteria.
Requirements Donors must be at least 16 years old and weigh at least 115 pounds. 16 year olds must have a yellow consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian. If you are on antibiotics, you must be off of them for 24 hours before you donate. If you have a cold or the flu, you must be symptom free for 48 hours. If you’ve recently had a body piercing, you are okay to donate if it was done by the “gun” method or by a doctor. If you’ve recently gotten a tattoo, you are okay to donate if it was done in a licensed facility in Kansas or Missouri.
Tips Drink TONS of water two days before and morning of your donation. Eat a BIG breakfast Friday morning and a BIG lunch that afternoon. Wear a shirt with sleeves that can roll all the way up. Must have ID (that shows name and age) on Friday.
Just one blood donation can help as many as two local hospital patients. Community Blood Center must collect at least 580 pints of blood every day to meet the needs of our area.
