Lee's Summit homeowner shot during break-in

Lee's Summit homeowner shot during break-in

June 1, 2014

On Sunday, June 1st at approximately 4:00 a.m. officers were called to the 5600 block of NE Oaks Ridge Lane on a reported burglary. 

The initial investigation revealed that the homeowner was awakened by the sounds of three suspects entering the home via a back door.  The homeowner confronted the suspects and a struggle ensued. 

During the struggle a shot was fired and the victim received a minor gunshot wound to the leg. The suspects then fled the residence. 

Victim was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. 

Police are interviewing the victim and witnesses at this time to gather possible suspect descriptions.
