Lee's Summit Host Crime Prevention Fairs
July 29, 2010
Lee's Summit Host Crime Prevention Fairs By Mike Childs, LSPD
Lee’s Summit Police Department announces two annual crime prevention fairs scheduled for the first week of August. National Night Out Against Crime will be held Tuesday, August 3rd from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 SE Green Street. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, strengthen participation in local anticrime efforts, and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Activities slated for the fair include free food, family-friendly DJ, bounce houses, rock wall, and a police static display of LSPD heavy duty equipment to include the Emergency Services Squad “Bearcat” and the Bomb Squad robots. Several non-profit agencies will provide information on community resources. National Noon Out for Senior Citizens will be held Wednesday, August 4th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at The Pavilion at John Knox Village, 520 NW Murray Road. Retired FBI Agent Jeff Lanza will provide a keynote presentation on Identity Theft. Agencies such as the Jackson County Division of Senior and Disability Services, the American Heart Association, and Lee’s Summit Medical Center will provide information on community resources specific to senior citizens. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.
