Lee's Summit Police Investigating after man's body found in the water

On Saturday, 6/30/2012 at around 8:50 a.m. officers and medical crews were called to the 300 block of NE Rice Road on the report of a man’s body in the water.
Upon arrival, officers located the body in the south end of a storm water retention pond located east of Langsford Road and NE Rice Road.
The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s office was summoned to the scene and they removed the body from the water.
The initial investigation shows no signs of foul play and the victim is a white male is his late 30’s to early 40’s. Based on the initial investigation Detectives were able to make a preliminary identification of the deceased. In addition, Detectives located items left on the bank that indicated the subject was spending time on the bank of the pond.
At this point, the investigation will focus on confirming the man’s identity and determining the cause of death in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s office.
