Lee's Summit Police Investigating Fatal Accident on 291 Highway

Police responded this morning at around 12:30 a.m. to the area of 291 Highway and NE Deerbrook Terrace on an accident involving a motor scooter and a pickup truck.
Information from the scene indicates that the motor scooter was travelling northbound on 291 Highway near the intersection of NE Deerbrook Terrace. The scooter collided with a truck in that intersection that was travelling westbound and was attempting to cross the highway.
The driver of the motor scooter was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger on the scooter was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released. The driver of the pickup truck and passenger were both treated and released at the scene. The investigation will now focus on the factors and circumstances that lead to the crash.
At this time, the victim’s name is being withheld until family members are notified.
