Lee's Summit Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash

On Wednesday, August 1st, 2012 at 10:30 p.m. emergency crews were summoned to the area of SW 5th and SW Jefferson Street on the report of a single car accident involving a motorcycle. The initial investigation indicates that the driver of the motorcycle was northbound on Jefferson when he lost control and struck a utility pole. 

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.  At the time of the crash the driver was actively fleeing from a Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy who was attempting to stop him. The accident remains under investigation at this time.

The deceased was identified as 44 year old Kenneth Coty of Independence, Missouri.

    He wrote the script on his death. He had the opportunity to stop and chose to flee.

    Ken was one hell of a guy. A very talented person who was a master at putting things together. If it didnt work, you could bet that Ken could fix it. He will be missed by many.
