Lee's Summit Police Seeking Assistance in Death Investigation

On Monday, May 7, 2012 at approximately 1:45 p.m. officers with the Lee’s Summit Police Department were called to the 200 block of NE Strother Road to investigate a body that was found behind a residence.
The homeowner had returned to the residence and noticed tire tracks leading to the rear of the house and fearing that he had been the victim of a burglary followed the tire tracks. As the tire tracks ended near the grassy and wooded area behind the home, the homeowner discovered the body of a man that had been badly burned.The initial investigation has revealed that the victim is believed to be a middle aged white male with a heavyset build. The victim has short cropped brown hair along with some facial hair. The victim was wearing a red shirt and blue jeans with a black belt. Since the victim was badly burned, the Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in identifying the victim and the circumstances surrounding his death.
The Police Department is also seeking information from anyone who may have driven through the area between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Persons with information can call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
