08-02-09 Lee's Summit Shots Fired Call Results in an Arrest Officers responded Sunday, August 2nd at approximately 8:30 AM on a shots fired call in the 600 block of NW Westvale Cir., Lee's Summit, MO. The suspect reportedly fired some shots into the ground before going back inside his residence. Upon arrival officers observed the suspect inside his residence and attempts to communicate with him failed. The scene was secured, other officers responded to the scene, and some area residents were evacuated for safety. After approximately two hours of vague communication with the suspect he refused to exit his residence. After continually refusing to exit the residence and comply with verbal commands given by the officers, tactical team members deployed a less lethal impact round which struck the suspect in the leg. The suspect was then taken into custody without further incident. He was treated at the scene and then taken to the station for questioning and booking. No other injuries were reported. The identity of the 29 year old Lee’s Summit resident taken into custody is not being released until charges are filed. Several firearms were recovered from the residence and the incident is still under investigation by the Police Department.
