Lee’s Summit kicks off the summer with the annual Downtown Days…Streets Alive! Festival the weekend of Friday, June 6, in the historic business district of Downtown Lee’s Summit.
This event hosts nearly 200 booths, spans six blocks, and attracts tens of thousands every year.
This event grosses the largest profit used by Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street, a 501c(3) not-for-profit organization, to revitalize and preserve the downtown area.
The Downtown Days committee has been planning this event since the moment last year’s ended. Regulars of the event will notice a few changes this year.
“This year we have the new white tiger exhibit. So, there will be live white tigers. We also have a new carnival this year which is going to have bigger and better rides,” events and promotions director, Stacy Needles, said.
The old favorites will be back such as the petting zoo, BBQ competition, and car show.
Festival hours are: Friday from noon to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
