Lee’s Summit West Football Star Accused Of Armed Robbery

According to the probable cause statement on January 23, 2013 at 3:58 p.m. Kansas City Missouri Police Officers were dispatched to 9809 Willow #1C in response to an armed robbery. Victims informed the officers that they arrived home around 3 p.m. One of the victims told police that as he approached his apartment he saw one suspect, identified as Jamone Boyd B/M 06-07-1994, four unidentified black males and one unidentified white male. All of the suspects were 5’8” to 5’10” tall weighing 150-200 lbs, except for Boyd.
According to the probable cause statement, Boyd and the others went downstairs as the victim went inside his apartment. Shortly after, there was a knock at the victim’s door. The victim opened the door and Boyd and the other suspects pushed their way inside. Two of the five victims were hit on the head with a pistol. Some of the victims tried to barricade themselves in a bedroom. A suspect kicked the door open and brought them back to the living room at gunpoint.
Boyd and the suspects took the victims’ cell phones and wallets. The apartment was emptied of valuable items such as an iPad, a social security card, a Playstation 3, and an XBOX 360 among other items.
The suspects told the victims not to call the police threatening to come back and retaliate. Victims were also told two people with AK’s would shoot them if they left their apartment too soon. The suspects also told the victims that they would be back in a few weeks to rob them again.
According to the probable cause, each victim identified Boyd as one of the suspects.
Boyd turned himself in to the Lee’s Summit Police Department on February 3. He was taken to the Kansas City, Missouri Police Headquarters. Boyd denied the charges and stated that CJ, Luan, Flip, and Joey had committed the robbery.
According to the complaint issued by the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Missouri, Boyd is being charged with five counts of Robbery in the 1st degree in violation of Section 569.020,RSMo and five counts of armed criminal action in violation of Section 571.015, RSMo. Prosecutors requested a bond of $150,000.
