Lee’s Summit Woman and 9 yr old Boy Involved in Car and Bicycle Accident in HyVee Parking Lot
June 9, 2010 Crash Between a Car and Bicycle

On Sunday 06/06/10 at 11:30 am police and fire were
dispatched to 301 NE Rice Roadregarding a motor vehicle
crash between a car and bicycle in the parking lot. The crash
involved a 1999 Toyota Camry driven by a 36 year old
female Lee’s Summit resident and a 9 year old male bicyclist, also from Lee’s
Summit.
A witness
statement indicates the motorist was traveling through the lot at
a safe speed when the bicyclist began to cross in front of her from the right
side. Due to the speed of the bicyclist the motorist had no time to react and
the bicycle impacted the right front of the vehicle knocking him from the bike.
The 9 year old was transported by ambulance to Children’s MercyHospitalbut the extent of his injuries is unknown. No citations were issued.
