Fullers celebrate 50th anniversary
October 29, 2011
Bill and Mina (Campbell) Fuller celebrated their Golden Anniversary on Aug. 19 at the Heart of Life church in Lee’s Summit.
They were married Aug. 25, 1961 at Bales Baptist Church in Kansas City.
They celebrated their 50 years together with those they cherish the most, their children, grandchildren and friends. The children fixed dinner for about 100 guests. The couple surprised the family by reciting their vows “Hillbilly Style” with their pastor Charles Funderburk.
Mina wore a home-spun, long, black dress with a white apron and a bonnet. Bill wore overalls with one strap undone and a straw hat. They walked in on walkers with a gentleman escorting them with a shot gun.
Mina wrote their promises:
“Bill, do you promise to sit in your chair, watching TV, oblivious to what is going on around you, while Mina cooks you food, washes your clothes and cleans up after you?
“Will you still get mad at her when she tries to tell you something and all you can say is, ‘But, Mom!’?
“Bill, do you promise to love and cherish Mina as long as you live, or until God calls you home?”
“Mina, do you promise to take care of Bill so his health will get stronger so he can do more to help himself?
Will you promise to go easy on Bill when he doesn’t talk very loud and you tell him, ‘I can’t read lips,’ or when you get mad and tell him, ‘I’m not your mom!’
“Mina, do you promise to still love and cherish Bill as long as you live, or until God calls you to heaven?”
