As they helplessly stand by watching their best friend fight the painful effects of cancer, five college men are prepared to shave off their locks in support of their buddy. An Iowa State undergraduate and a 2007 graduate of Lee’s Summit High School, Michael Hill, 22, was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma, a group of blood cancers that affect the cells that play a role in the immune system, as described by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society website. With hair clippers and razors in hand, Hill’s five friends - Logan Coy, Todd Morris, Max Smith, Adam Benckeser, and Andrew Thomas - resolved to show their love and support by completely shaving their heads bald at the Hill family home on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 2:00 pm. “We are hoping that this can get out to people in the community for some extra prayers, because you can never have too many prayers,” said Andrew Thomas, Hill’s close friend and organizer of the event. The Hill Family home is located at 1121 NE Wildplum Drive in Lee’s Summit. The family of Michael Hill - 816-525-9257/ Andrew Thomas - 816-309-7524
