Local Lee's Summit Man Charged After Armed Disturbance Sunday

On Sunday, June 24th, 2012 at 4:05 a.m., members of the Lee’s Summit Police Department were called to the area of SE 3rd Street and SE M-291 Highway on the report of a disturbance in the parking lot of a business. Officers arrived on scene and contacted the victim who told them that he was involved in an argument with the driver of another vehicle in the parking lot. During the argument, a man exited the other vehicle and fired a single round from a handgun at the victim. The suspects then left the parking lot. Based on the description of the suspects, officers located the vehicle in a residential neighborhood in the 1000 block of SE Windstar Ct. Officers established a perimeter around the house and all suspects eventually surrendered to Police by 9:00 a.m.
On Monday, June 25th, Jackson County Prosecutors charged Jordan R. Townsend, an 18 year old male with 2nd Degree assault and armed criminal action. Townsend's bond was set at $100,000.
