1,500 athletes will converge at Shorewood Park in Loves Park, III for the 41st Division One Ski National Championships presented by Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing from August 7-9. Hosted by the Ski Broncos Water Ski Show Team, 14 show ski clubs will be battling for the coveted Show Ski national title.
Seven judges are picked from a pool of approximately 30 National Show Ski Association senior judges based upon their prior rankings. Included in this year's seven judges is Lake Lotawana's own Amy Chinnery-Valmassi.
Each of the 14 clubs will have one hour to present a theatrical performance all on water skis. Points are awarded based on execution, difficulty, spectator appeal, and flow. Also featured during the show are individual acts in adagio doubles, swivel, freestyle jumping, and multi-jumping acts.
The National Show Ski Association is an affiliated sport discipline organization of USA Water Ski, which was formed in 1939 as a non-profit organization promoting water skiing in the United States. USA Water Ski is affiliated with the International Waterski & wakeboard Federation (world governing body) and is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and Pan American Sports Organization as the national governing body of organized water skiing in the United States.
