MACY’S CHARITY SHOPPING DAY – A SHOPPING DAY SO SPECIAL YOU NEED A TICKET TO GET IN

Macy’s announces participating Kansas City area charities

As they say, the early bird gets the worm and Macy’s Charity Shopping Day is just the way for customers to get their first chance to shop and save at Macy’s Summit Fair. This day of charitable shopping takes place on Saturday, August 1, 2009 when shoppers can shop for their favorite cause and benefit their favorite local community organization.

How it works:

Organizations that sell $5 “shopping pass tickets” to their supporters, keep the entire proceeds. Ticket holders then use their tickets on Saturday, August 1, 2009 to get a sneak preview of the new store and receive the following exclusive offers on their purchases all day:

 ·   Customers save an extra 25 percent* on apparel and accessories

·   Customers save an extra 10 percent* on home items *Exclusions and limitations apply. See ticket for details.

Charities also have the chance to win more money in three different ways – The organization that sells the most tickets in advance of August 1 will receive a $1,000 bonus and the organization that brings in the most attendees on August 1 will also receive a $1,000 bonus. Tickets will also be sold at the door on August 1 with the proceeds of those ticket sales divided equally among the five organizations with the highest attendance that day. Schools, churches and non-profit organizations with 501©(3) status are still eligible to participate. Please email charitydaycoordinator@macys.com or call 1.866.607.4422 to receive an application or for more information.

Thus far, a total of 48 Kansas City area charities and non-profit organizations have signed up for this day of charitable shopping. Customers can support their favorite charity or non-profit organization by contacting them at the information listed to purchase a shopping pass ticket.
