Man charged in July 4 double-fatality car wreck

July 4, 2011
9:32 p.m.

Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker today announced the filing of two felony counts of Manslaughter against a man in connection with today's double-fatality wreck on Interstate 435.

Authorities believe the man's name is Felix Solano Gallardo, 18. But they are still attempting to confirm his identity. The man said he lives in Kansas City, Kan., but that also has not been confirmed.

He will face two counts of Involuntary Manslaughter for driving, under the influence of alcohol, the wrong way on Interstate 435, causing an accident that claimed the lives of a Belton mother and her daughter. His blood alcohol tested .185, above the legal limit, two hours after the accident, according to court documents

A $500,000 cash-only bond has been requested.
