Mavericks Announce 2011-12 Season Schedule
August 16, 2011
Missouri unveils Super Tuedays and Freedom Fridays
The Missouri Mavericks, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League (CHL), announced Monday the 2011-12 regular season schedule. The Mavericks will open up their third season on Friday, October 21 in Hidalgo, Texas against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. After six road games, the Mavericks’ home opener is slated for Saturday, November 5 against the Wichita Thunder at Independence Events Center. The 2011-12 schedule consists of 66 games – 33 at Independence Events Center and 33 road contests. The Mavericks’ home schedule features 28 weekend games (12 on Friday, 14 on Saturday and two on Sunday). All non-Sunday games will begin at 7:05 p.m.
The Mavericks have also announced Super Tuesdays and Freedom Fridays for the 2011-12 season. Missouri plays five games on Tuesday this season and all five games have been dubbed “Super Tuesdays”. Every Tuesday game will feature $1 hot dogs and $3 drafts all game long. Also, fans can purchase Price Chopper Two-for-One tickets for all Tuesdays (Terrace and Center Ice seats only, limit four tickets per Price Chopper card). Price Chopper Two-for-One tickets for all five Tuesday games can be purchased starting December 1, 2011 by showing a Price Chopper Shopper card in person at the Box Office or online at Ticketmaster.com by typing the code ‘ChopperXXXX’ with the X’s representing the last four digits of the Price Chopper Shopper Card. Freedom Fridays are available for every Friday home game and will go on sale on November 1, 2011. All military personnel (active or non-active) with a military ID card can receive $5 off any ticket at the Box Office only (excludes End level seating, maximum five tickets per ID).
At four select home games, the Mavericks will offer Family Four Packs which will include four tickets, four hot dogs and four Pepsi products. The four dates are November 25, December 31, January 15 and March 10. The on-sale date for all the Family Four Packs will be Nov. 1 and information including pricing and availability will be announced at a later date.
For the second consecutive year, the Mavericks and Independence Events Center will have specials on concessions during the first hour after doors open. Doors open 90 minutes prior to puck drop and for the first hour after doors open, there will be special discounts on select concession items.
New entertainment acts, as well as other fan favorite acts, will perform at specific Mavericks’ home games. As seen on this season’s America’s Got Talent, The Russian Bar Trio, will perform live at a Mavericks’ game. The Zooperstars! will make their annual trip to Missouri as well. Specific dates for entertainment acts will be announced at a later date on the Mavericks’ website or social media pages (Facebook and Twitter).
The Mavericks will play the Turner Conference a total 31 times (15 times at home, 16 times on road), and the Berry Conference a total of 35 times (18 at home, 17 on road). The Mavericks’ two most common opponents are the Wichita Thunder and the Tulsa Oilers, and the Mavericks will play each team a total of nine times. Fans at Independence Events Center will see the Oilers five times and the Thunder four times.
Missouri will take on the Quad City Mallards eight times (four at home, four on road), more than any other team in the Turner Conference. Only one team will not travel to Missouri this season, the Rio Grande Valley Killer, but for the first time in the Mavericks’ three-year history the Texas Brahmas will make the trip to Independence and the Mavericks will play every team in the CHL.
The Mavericks will begin the season with their longest road trip at six games. Missouri will travel to the two farthest opponents in the first two weeks of the regular season. They head to Rio Grande Valley for two games on opening weekend, and then head to Arizona for three games the following week. The Mavericks will close out their road trip in Wichita on Friday, November 4 before returning for their home opener the following night against the Thunder.
Individual tickets for all 33 regular season home games will go on sale on Saturday, September 17 at the Mavericks’ Fan Fest at Independence Events Center. Fans can purchase individual game tickets at the Independence Events Center Box Office, online at www.Ticketmaster.com, or by calling (800) 745-3000.
