State of the State Address Reveals Dedication to Balanced Energy Plan

Jefferson City, MO - During tonight's State of the State address, Governor Jay Nixon announced the need for Missouri to develop an energy plan that focuses on reliable and affordable energy and pursues cleaner energy options. Missourians for a Balanced Energy Future Executive Director Irl Scissors applauded this commitment in the following statement:

"There are many key priorities for the state of Missouri at this point in our economic recovery, so we appreciate Governor Nixon's continued commitment to comprehensive energy solutions for Missouri as evidenced by his remarks in the State of the State address. We look forward to working on the development of a plan that includes upgrading Missouri's aging electric infrastructure, creating jobs, while providing energy solutions for our future. These are key elements to ensure reliable, affordable power to Missouri consumers."

Excerpt from Governor Nixon's State of the State Address on Energy:

"We need to develop a comprehensive energy plan for our state: one that balances the need for low-cost, reliable energy with our duty to be responsible stewards of the environment."
