MCC Longview Offers Even More Quality Arts Programming

June 14, 2014

Metropolitan Community College and the Summit Theatre Group both agreed to a new partnership
that will help continue to bring quality community theatre to the city of Lee’s Summit.

The LongviewbCultural Arts Center will house three shows a year performed by the Summit Theatre Group. This will provide even more quality arts programming for Lee’s Summit and the Kansas City metro area.

The vision for the Longview Cultural Arts Center was to create a home for the arts in the city of Lee’s
Summit. Since the center opened in 2008 it has been housing numerous productions and art shows in
which many of MCC-Longview’s students are involved every year.

The Summit Theatre Group works to provide enjoyable live theatre opportunities and experiences for
the community. Ryan Morehead, the Cultural Arts Center Coordinator says “having our own Summit
Theatre Group productions at the college reinforces the mission of both organizations and offers
another quality venue for theatre in Lee’s Summit.

We are thrilled to work with an important community organization and allow our students and faculty the chance to work with professionals in this field.”

The first show under the new agreement will be All My Sons which will open September 12th.
Metropolitan Community College, founded in 1915, has a mission of preparing students, serving
communities, creating opportunities.
