Meet Local Artist Ramon Magee on October 15 and view his Artwork
By Melissa Bedford Fears, Public Communications Coordinator City of LS
The City of Lee's Summit announces an artist reception with local artist Ramon Magee on Thursday, October 15, 2009. Meet Ramon any time between 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the lobby of City Hall, 220 SE Green St, Lee's Summit. Ramon Magee attended the Columbus College of Fine Arts prior to joining Hallmark Cards, Inc. His professional career of 39 years there included artistic, management, engineering, and project management responsibilities. He is a passionate photographer whose work has been exhibited in numerous juried and "one man" shows. His work has won many coveted awards. Ramon’s fine art images are captured digitally. Then he processes and makes creative adjustments to the image. His resulting original prints are then made using archival materials. Ramon prefers black and white imagery because of the challenges needed for a definitive image, that being composition, tone, texture, and interest. The viewer then sees content that is typically “hidden” to the viewer in the identical image in color. However, there are some images in his body of work where he feels strongly that single tints or full color contribute to the subject matter and/or emotion. In his Legacy Series of images, he often has linked his photographic and painter’s “eye” in selected images, extending their fine art substance. Ramon enjoys capturing images of landscapes, flowers, historical, and architectural content. He continues to be involved in photography and art organizations. Ramon lectures and gives seminars at various organizations sharing his passion and skills for art and photography. Magee shared “My objective is for the viewer to be self guided into each image, and to be captivated with its content, emotion, and feeling of presence”. Stop by City Hall, 220 SE Green on October 15 any time between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. to meet Ramon Magee and view his artwork on display in the City Hall lobby.
