New Trial Date Set ~ Eric Butkovitch vs. City of Lee’s Summit

April 20, 2013

At the April 15th Case Management meeting in the case of Eric Butkovitch vs. the City of Lee’s Summit et al. resulted in an order setting a new trial date for June 2nd, 2014 with a pre-trial conference scheduled for May 19th, 2014.

This will be a jury trial. With no other activity scheduled until that time, previous speculation of a settlement in the case, as in the case of Rachel Townsend’s wrongful dismissal may be nothing more than idle thoughts.

This case is over Butkovitch’s claim he was denied an interview for a part-time prosecutor position with the city as retaliation because he refused to file a brief blaming then City Prosecutor, Rachel Townsend for something he knew nothing about.

At the time of this incident, Butkovitch was serving as a substitute prosecutor for the city.

After refusing, Butkovitch was notified via voicemail from assistant prosecutor Round that the city had removed him from several dockets.
