Lee's Summit Police is asking the public's help

The Lee's Summit Missouri Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying the female suspect in this photograph.

Kadean Selected to Develop Cedarhurst Assisted Living, Memory Care Complex in Blue Springs, MO

Kadean Construction has been tapped by St. Louis based Dover Development and Cedarhurst Senior Living to build Cedarhurst of Blue Springs, a multi-unit senior care facility in Blue Springs, MO, it was announced today.

The $9 million project includes constructing a 61,007 square foot, two-story, wood frame facility that will offer 49 assisted living and 20 memory care apartments in all private suites.


Choose To Drive Safely During Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend

“Distracted drivers are dangerous drivers,” said Colonel Karsten. “We need every driver to pay attention every mile of their trip. That means obeying all traffic signs, driving sober, and putting down your cell phone in order to have a safe Thanksgiving holiday.

The counting period for the 2017 Thanksgiving holiday weekend is from 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 22, until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2017. During the 2016 Thanksgiving holiday weekend, 14 people were killed and another 553 were injured in 1,426 traffic crashes. That means one person was killed or injured in a traffic crash every 10.8 minutes in Missouri over last year's Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Debate Team Begins Year Strong at Rockhurst Invitational Debate Tournament

Summit Christian Academy’s Speech and Debate team received top awards at the Rockhurst Invitational Debate Tournament recently.  SCA debaters competed in a variety of categories and were awarded the following:

Choir Members Qualify for the KC Metro Men’s & Women’s Honor Choir

Several students from the Summit Christian Academy (SCA) Choir were recently selected for the KC Metro Women’s and Men’s Honor Choir. SCA Seniors Alley Brown and Emilie Moyer were selected for the Women's Honor Choir and Senior Michael Werner and Sophomore Patrick Simpson was selected for the Men's Honor Choir.  Each of these students auditioned on Saturday with over 500 students from the KC Metro area, and earned a spot in these prestigious choirs.

Wrestler Earns All-American Honors at USA Wrestling Pre-Season National Tournament

Senior Brett Campbell participated in the USA Wrestling Pre-Season National Tournament at the University of Northern Iowa on October 28-29. Campbell wrestles for Champions Wrestling Club out of Blue Springs. Campbell earned All-American honors and finished in 4th place with a 5-2 record. 

"The Sound of Music" at SCA

The Summit Christian Academy (SCA) Theatre Department presented the timeless musical, “The Sound of Music” on the stage of SCA November 9-11.

“The Sound of Music” is a heartwarming story based on the real life story of the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world's best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II.

Elementary Christian Character Award Recipients

Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is pleased to recognize students who consistently exhibit exceptional Christian character.  The purpose of this award is to encourage students to pursue their potential toward attaining the highest level of personal and academic development.


Food Drive Provides Food to Feed 400 for Thanksgiving

The annual Summit Christian Academy (SCA) Elementary Food Drive was a huge success this year.  The SCA students brought in 8,410 items to bless families in need. SCA joined forces with Turning Point, Belton Assembly of God, and Courageous Life Churches to collect food items and turkeys to bless 400 families in the KC metro area.  On the final day of the drive, sixth grade students packed the canned items into boxes and loaded them onto trucks to be distributed to the families. 


ACT Scores Surpass City, State, and National Averages

Summit Christian Academy (SCA) students taking the ACT college-entrance test scored well above the city, state, and national averages again this year.

SCA students’ average ACT composite score for the class of 2017 was 25.2. The average ACT score for the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District is 21.9, with the state of Missouri at 20.4, and the National average of 21. SCA offers an elective ACT Preparation class as part of their course offerings for students in grades 10-12. This course provides students with instruction and practice in the five categories that appear on the ACT, and provides test-taking strategies.
