Single engine plane crash at Lee's Summit Municipal Airport

 Emergency crews responded to the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport on Monday, April 9th, 2012 at around 11:30 a.m. on a reported plane crash.  Investigation at the scene revealed that the pilot of a single engine Cessna 152 had lost control of the airplane while landing and ran off the runway.

Dr. Marcia Sutton named principal at Trailridge Elementary

Dr. Marcia Sutton, currently assistant principal at Richardson Elementary and Summit Pointe Elementary, was named 2012-13 principal for Trailridge Elementary School at the April 12 Lee's Summit R-7 Board of Education meeting. She will replace Dr. Matt Miller, who will serve as R-7 director of student services next year.

Ron Baker named Saint Luke’s East Hospital CEO

Saint Luke’s Health System announces the appointment of Ron Baker as CEO of Saint Luke’s East Hospital. Baker, currently CEO of Cushing Memorial Hospital in Leavenworth, Kan. – a member of Saint Luke’s Health System – will begin the position in Lee’s Summit in early May.

David M. Ketchmark, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that an Independence, Missouri woman pleaded guilty in federal court today to aiding and abetting the armed robbery of First Federal Bank in Grandview, Missouri.

101st Airborne Vets "Barnstorming" Missouri

Leaders of the newly-formed Missouri Gateway Chapter of the 101st Airborne Division Association are "barnstorming" Missouri cities and towns, spreading the word in search of Screaming Eagle veterans.  The purpose?  To develop an ongoing, statewide "deployment" to honor and serve all military veterans from border-to-border.
