Plane crash in Grain Valley

At approximately 2:00 p.m. today, a single engine aircraft crashed while attempting to land at East Kansas City Airport, located in Grain Valley, Missouri.  

The plane was heavily damaged. Grain Valley Police Department and Central Jackson County Fire Department crews responded to the scene.  

The sole occupant (pilot) was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment. The FAA is enroute to the scene to handle the investigation.

No further details available at this time.
