Lee’s Summit police have identified the man who died at a local hotel as 44-year-old Terry P. Voigt of Post Falls, Idaho.
Investigators are working to establish a timeline to determine the circumstances leading up to his death and are awaiting autopsy results from the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Voigt was in town with a group of co-workers attending a training seminar in the metro area and staying at the Comfort Inn hotel located in the 900 block of S.E. Oldham Parkway
Police were called at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3 on the report of a death at the hotel and arrived to locate the dead man in a third-floor room.
"We are treating the incident as a death investigation,” said Sgt. Christopher Depue. “The Police Department will await the results of an autopsy and toxicology reports from the Medical Examiner's office as we move forward with the investigation."
According to the Coeur d’Alene Press newspaper, Voigt's Facebook page indicates he was raised in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and graduated from Coeur d'Alene High in 1987.
