PostNet Supports Missouri Entrepreneurs, Offers Chance at $15,000 to ‘Boost This Biz’

May 1, 2012

In celebration of National Small Business Week, Lee’s Summit area business owners looking to take their business to the next level are encouraged to enter PostNet’s second-annual Boost This Biz contest. Starting May 1, 2012, any small-business owner can visit https://www.facebook.com/PostNet to share why they deserve the grand prize. https://apps.facebook.com/postnetbtb/

The five entries with the most votes by June 8, 2012, will move on to the final judging round, where an impartial panel of fellow entrepreneurs will choose one grand prize winner. The remaining four finalists will each receive a $200 American Express gift card.

“Local small businesses are the backbone of the Lee’s Summit area economy, and it’s rewarding to be a part of a campaign that spotlights all the talented and aspiring entrepreneurs in our community,” said Susan Englesby owner of PostNet in Lee’s Summit. “There are certainly many business owners across the country who are deserving of this prize, but we hope that it comes back to Lee’s Summit area.

Every day PostNet of Lee’s Summit consults with business owners to determine new strategies to help them grow their companies. Whether it’s designing a restaurant’s menu, or printing and mailing a landscaper’s postcards, PostNet’s staff works with Lee’s Summit area small-business owners across all industries to meet their unique design, print, copy, and shipping needs.

•    Evaluate your image: Building a strong brand image is critical to growing your business. What do your logo and business cards say about your company? Do they convey your products, services, work ethic? Once you have evaluated your branding,   it is vital to streamline it throughout all your collateral, from invoices to proposals to envelopes, to create a professional image.
•    Add value for existing customers: Give more than your customers ask for by anticipating their needs. Take time to sit down with your customers and figure out why they are purchasing a specific product or service. If you take the time to understand their buying needs you will be able to better anticipate future purchases and suggest ideas that they might have never thought of. Also, growing your business through selling to existing customers is much more cost effective than trying to attract a new client.
•    Engage with your community:  Create awareness of your business by sponsoring events, attending speaking opportunities and being involved in your local community. By being active locally and networking within your small business community, you will be able to subtly market to potential customers and show them what you have to offer.
•    Set goals and benchmarks: Most entrepreneurs start their businesses with a growth strategy in mind, but rarely sit down and map out individual benchmarks. In order to grow your business you must have attainable goals, a clear vision of what you want to achieve and how. Make it a standard practice to revisit your goals often and set quantifiable benchmarks.
