R-7 School Bus Involved In Accident With 30 Students

January 31, 2011
A bus transporting students from Bernard Campbell Middle School slid off  the road and into a ditch on Cedar Creek Lane this afternoon.  All 30 students on board were evacuated to a nearby house, where they were evaluated by paramedics.  There appear to be no injuries.

Students who were not picked up at the scene by their parents are being taken to Cedar Creek Elementary.

UPDATE:
Although an R-7 spokesperson initially reported there were no injuries known to have resulted from the accident, Sgt. Chris Depue of the Lee's Summit Police Department is now reporting that there were several minor injuries reported at the scene and that "one child was transported by ambulance from the scene for neck and back pain."
Some media outlets erroneously indicated the bus had rolled over; but Depue said the bus rolled to its side after sliding off the road.
