Celebrating The Opening Of The Missouri Innovation Campus Trailblazing facility is partnership between LS R-7 and University of Central Missouri

Hundreds of Lee’s Summit R-7 community members celebrated the grand opening of the district’s new Missouri Innovation Campus on Sept. 5. Thanks to a voter-approved bond issue and a trailblazing partnership involving the R-7 School District and the University of Central Missouri, the school opened during mid-August. 

The new facility includes the Missouri Innovation Campus program, a nationally recognized program reshaping the way students experience education; Summit Technology Academy (STA), a unique high-school program that prepares students for careers in areas such as engineering, computer science, health care and creative sciences; and UCM-Lee’s Summit, the university’s main off-campus learning facility, offering graduate- and undergraduate-level completion programs to metro-area students. Students enrolled in Summit Technology Academy as well as the Missouri Innovation Campus are from 14 metro-area school districts.

Aaron Layendecker of PLMS receives $4,000 educational scholarship

Aaron Layendecker, a Spanish teacher at Pleasant Lea Middle School and Lee’s Summit North High School, recently received a $4,000 scholarship from Western Governors University Missouri. He was surprised with a check from the university in his PLMS classroom during late August.

LSR7 Board Plans Opening of MIC and Honors Donors (LSR7 School Board Meeting 8/17/17)

LSR7 School Board members discussed the opening of the Missouri Innovation Campus (MIC) for the 2017-2018 school year at the board meeting Thursday, August 17. The nationally-recognized programs housed in the new MIC facility serve students from 14 metro-area districts, and represent a collaboration between LSR7’s Summit Technology Academy and the University of Central Missouri (UCM).

Story Project: Third-grade teacher helps student during challenging time

A story of compassion, love, hope and determination in the third grade
As hard as it is to relive the past five months, we feel it is important to share our story. It is a story of compassion, love, hope and determination. One of the third-grade teachers at Richardson Elementary, Mrs. Cynthia Kaleikau is a true hero to our family--specifically our son, Dominic. This teacher helped our son and family find strength and hope in a time of hardship. Mrs. Kaelikau is a teacher who has gone above and beyond and is the definition of committed to her students.

Chipotle Fundraiser for Lee's Summit West Swim & Dive Team

On Thursday, October 5, 2017, the Lee's Summit West Swim & Dive Team will hold a fundraiser from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The fundraiser will take place at the Chipotle at 1716 NW Chipman Road in Lee's Summit, MO.

Fifty percent of the proceeds spent at Chipotle between 4:00 p.m. and 8 p.m. will  benefit the LSW Swim & Dive Team.

Lee’s Summit R-7 Families Invited To Use My School Bucks To Track Their Children’s School Meals

Lee’s Summit R-7 School District families have the opportunity to track their children’s school lunch and breakfast purchases, check meal account balances, receive low-balance alerts and pay for meals through a web-based program known as My School Bucks.
