Lee’s Summit High School Robotics Team

Lee’s Summit High School’s robotics team, Team Driven #1730, recently competed from March 26-28 in Denver, Colorado at their second regional of the 2015 competition season. Team Driven was part of the FIRST Robotics Competition, Colorado Regional winning alliance and also received the Gracious Professionalism award along with recognition for the Industrial Safety award.

Amy Krinke, director of choirs at Lee’s Summit West High School, was named Lee's Summit R-7 School District 2015 Teacher of the Year during a surprise announcement at an April 2 community reception.

Four R-7 School District Seniors Named To Missouri Scholars 100

Four Lee's Summit R-7 School District high school seniors were recently selected for the 2015 Missouri Scholars 100, a statewide program that honors 100 of Missouri's top academic students in the graduating class of 2015. Students will be recognized at a luncheon in Columbia on April 26.

The Lee’s Summit R-7 School District will host a free water polo clinic from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. March 21 at the center, 3498 SW Windemere Drive in Lee’s Summit.

LS R-7 Bond Re-Financing To Save Over $11 Million

Lee’s Summit R-7 current and future students will benefit for years to come thanks to the school district’s re-financing of general-obligation bonds. Based on the re-financing, approved by the Board of Education at its Feb. 26 meeting, it is estimated that the district will save $11.2 million in interest costs until the bonds are paid.  R-7 officials have worked over the last few months with investment bankers to secure lower interest rates for this cost-saving effort.

Five distinguished alumni will be inducted into the Lee’s Summit High School Hall of Fame on April 11 at Lee’s Summit High School. Alumni being honored for the 2014-2015 school year are Dana M. Altieri, Class of 1994; Lt Col Nathan D. Flint, Class of 1994; Deborah Ann Herman, Class of 1978; Oliver F. Hook, Class of 1942; and Amy Elisabeth Rudolph, Class of 1987.
