Future Tigers Football Camp Teaches Young Athletes Techniques

The Lee’s Summit High School football team will host the Future Tigers football camp for all students who will be in grades 2 through 6 next year.

Tiger Football varsity and freshman coaching staffs, as well as some guest coaches, will teach stance and proper football positions; correct throwing and catching techniques; correct blocking and tackling progressions with bags; correct running and training techniques; run 7-on-7 activities; hold punt, pass, and kick competitions; and run other competitive situations.

LSW Girls Track Team Wins State and Run Into Summer

The girls of Lee’s Summit West’s track team have managed to snag the title once again at the state championships held Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27 in Jefferson City.

LSR7 Board Approves Fee Reductions

The new Lee’s Summit R-7 Board of Education met on May 18 to offer recognitions of achievement at the conclusion of the 2016-2017 school year, and to approve planned changes to the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. One change that will affect all families with students attending LSR7 will be the reduction in fees for student Chromebook loans, activities, and parking.

Congratulations to LS R-7 Retiring Staff Members

A total of 101 Lee's Summit R-7 staff members were recognized at the district's annual Retirement Reception, held May 2 at the Stansberry Leadership Center. The honored guests included staff members retiring at the end of this school year as well as those retiring anytime after the May 2016 reception.

KC Scholars, a new scholarship and college savings match program, recently announced its first-ever scholarship recipients, 77 percent of whom will be first-generation college students.
