Kayla West Named November Optimist Students Of The Month

Kayla West Named November Optimist Students Of The Month

Five Lee’s Summit R-7 School District high school seniors were recently named November Optimist Students of the Month by the Lee’s Summit Breakfast Optimist Club. The club honors six seniors each month for outstanding scholarship and citizenship. One student from Lee’s Summit North High School, unable to attend this month, will be honored at a future meeting.

Recognized students for November were Libby Wylie, Lee’s Summit High School; Luke Parton, LSHS; Monica Shipman, Lee’s Summit North High School; Kayla West, Lee’s Summit West High School; and Michael Phipps, LSWHS.

Kayla West, daughter of Lovely and Jim West, has been active in cross country, swimming, track, student activity advisory council, Titan Smart, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, freshman mentoring, A+ Program, AFS and is an International Baccalaureate Diploma candidate. After high school, Kayla plans to attend college to major in engineering.
