Five Lee’s Summit R-7 School District high school seniors were recently named November Optimist Students of the Month by the Lee’s Summit Breakfast Optimist Club. The club honors six seniors each month for outstanding scholarship and citizenship. One student from Lee’s Summit North High School, unable to attend this month, will be honored at a future meeting.

Recognized students for November were Libby Wylie, Lee’s Summit High School; Luke Parton, LSHS; Monica Shipman, Lee’s Summit North High School; Kayla West, Lee’s Summit West High School; and Michael Phipps, LSWHS.

Luke Parton, son of Shelley Spencer-Parton and Shawn Parton, has been active in math team, National Honor Society and is an International Baccalaureate Diploma candidate. After high school, Luke plans to attend the Missouri University of Science and Technology to study computer science.
