Five Lee’s Summit R-7 School District high school seniors were recently named November Optimist Students of the Month by the Lee’s Summit Breakfast Optimist Club. The club honors six seniors each month for outstanding scholarship and citizenship. One student from Lee’s Summit North High School, unable to attend this month, will be honored at a future meeting.

Recognized students for November were Libby Wylie, Lee’s Summit High School; Luke Parton, LSHS; Monica Shipman, Lee’s Summit North High School; Kayla West, Lee’s Summit West High School; and Michael Phipps, LSWHS.

Michael Phipps, son of Cindy and Jeff Phipps, has been active in debate, German Club, trap shooting, Future Business Leaders of American and National Honor Society. After high school, Michael plans to attend the University of Missouri to major in chemistry.
