R-7 School District to host Transition Fair to help families with special needs children prepare young adults for life after high school

The Lee’s Summit R-7 School District is hosting a Transition Fair from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at Lee’s Summit High School, 400 SE Blue Parkway. The event is designed to help families with special needs children prepare for their children’s transition from high school to the world of a young adult.

Lee's Summit R-7 School District - Preparing for the seasonal flu and the possibility of pandemic flu
Up-to-date information about H1N1 flu available on national website

Along with health and government organizations across the state, the Lee's Summit R-7 School District has been preparing for both the normal seasonal flu as well as the pandemic flu. Pandemic flu is similar to the seasonal flu but is caused by a new influenza virus that has not previously circulated so that it is more easily spread.

Greenwood Elementary teachers awarded $1,000 from Lee's Summit Walmart

Greenwood Elementary was recently selected for a special presentation through the Teacher Rewards Program, offered by the Walmart Foundation. Each local Walmart awards a school in their community 10 $100 gift cards for teachers to use in Walmart or Sam's Clubs.

     Greenwood Elementary School recently recognized top readers in the school's 1,000-page Summer Reading Challenge. A total of 116 children participated from among the school's 440 students.

Summit Technology Academy students participate in Cerner internship program

        Five students from Summit Technology Academy were selected for Cerner's summer internship program during 2009.  Cerner Corporation, headquartered in the Kansas City Metro Area, is an international health care information technology corporation that specializes in providing hospitals and other medical organizations electronic medical records systems.  The local students filled five of Cerner's 30 metro-area internship positions.
