Trials Concerning Kansas City Public Schools Student Transfers Concludes
Following a three-day trial, a Jackson County judge is being asked to consider whether or not a Missouri student transfer law violates the Hancock Amendment and creates an unfunded mandate.
On Aug. 8, Judge Brent Powell heard closing arguments from attorneys representing taxpayers in each of five districts: Blue Springs, Independence, Lee’s Summit R-7, North Kansas City and Raytown, as well as attorneys representing the State of Missouri. The judge is expected to rule on the case in one to two weeks.
