LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. – More than 200 individual gifts, a record amount, were donated by Saint Luke’s East–Lee’s Summit employees to Crittenton Children’s Center’s Adopt-An-Angel program yesterday. The program is designed to give a happy holiday to Crittenton’s 250-plus youths currently in residential, foster care and home-based programs.
“Saint Luke’s East employees responded like never before,” said John Clabaugh, director of Human Resources. Laura Sullivan, Human Resources, added, “There were so many gifts coming in on Monday we could barely walk through the department!” The gifts were loaded into three SUVs and taken to Crittenton Children’s Center Monday afternoon.
Crittenton’s “angels” filled out wish lists asking for items such as bedding, shoes, bath and body items, coats, games and toys, which community members could fulfill by “adopting” a Crittenton youth. With the help of the community, each child’s wishes can be granted on Christmas morning, when the angels’ packages are set outside their doors. Donations could also be made to a general holiday fund. Crittenton Children’s Center is part of Saint Luke’s Health System.
