After competing strong against 32 schools through District 7 and Sectional 4 competitions, Summit Christian gained two District Records, two Sectional Records, and two Sectional Champions.
At the Sectional meet held on Saturday, SCA freshman Carlie Queen won the High Jump at 5'5 1/2" and Pole Vault at 10'7" and set new Sectional Records in both as well. Queen also medaled for 3rd in the Discus event and set a new school record with a throw of 95'11".
SCA freshman James Bailey won the Discus and set a new school record at 157'. Bailey also earned the Silver medal in the Shot Put, which set a new school record at 49'09".
Both Queen and Bailey have qualified to compete at State this weekend at Jefferson City in all of their events.
"This is an incredible accomplishment for our SCA freshman athletes," said SCA varsity track and field coach Andre Carnegie.
The SCA Girls 4x800 Relay (Brownlee, Miller, Parke, & Thompson) placed 5th. Erin Brownlee placed 5th in the 800m and a set a new school record at 2:30.68. Isaiah Lind placed 8th in the Discus with a new personal best of 130'7". Overall team standings out of 32 teams: SCA Girls team placed 8th and the Boys team placed 14th.
