Standoff in Lee's Summit Ends

Police are searching for a man involved in a domestic disturbance reported early this morning.

A woman reportedly left the home but he refused to come out. Authorities set up a barricade around a residence in the 400 block of NE Westwind Drive in Lee's Summit, near Missouri Highway 291 and Langsford Road.

Upon entering the home approximately two hours later, police found that no one was inside.

A statement from authorities is expected this afternoon.

Barricaded Subject in Lee's Summit

Lee’s Summit, MO – On Tuesday, 7/8/2014 at approximately 5:30 a.m. officers with the Lee's Summit Police Department were called to the 400 block of NE Westwind Drive in regard to a domestic disturbance. 

Officers arrived on scene and contacted the female victim who believed the male subject was inside her residence. Officers took the female to safety but could not make contact with the male.

The Lee's Summit Police Department's Emergency Services Squad and the Jackson County Sheriff's Department's tactical team were called to the scene and determined that the residence was unoccupied.

No criminal charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is on-going.
