Stranger Danger Incident in Greenwood

June 4, 2014

Sgt. Chris Depue

We are working on the two incidents with Greenwood PD and I have put the same information out on our Facebook page and Twitter.

Information is being passed around via social media as well as the news media regarding a stranger danger incident that occurred in Greenwood. The reports also indicate that a similar incident may have occurred in Lee's Summit.

The Lee's Summit Police Department is actively working with the Greenwood MO Police Department to determine if the two reports are related. The incident in Greenwood occurred last Friday and the incident in Lee's Summit was approximately 3 weeks ago. The common factor in both incidents is a red, Dodge Caravan (mini-van). The van was reported to have the words "1st Anniversary" written on the back window in glass chalk.

At this time, the Lee's Summit Police Department is working with the Greenwood MO Police Department and checking leads to determine what the person's intent was when they contacted the child in front of the residence.

As soon as more information is known, it will be released. At this time we are encouraging people to report any suspicous vehicles to our dispatch center via 911 and to offer TIP information to our LSPD TIPS Line at 816-969-1752.
