Structure Fire at 101 SE Greystone Drive

On Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at 11:43 p.m., the Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 101 SE Greystone Drive. The occupant called to a report a fire on her deck.
When the fire department arrived, smoke was showing from the back of the single-story duplex. A fire involving the deck of unit 101 was spreading up the outside of the house and into a wood chimney chase. All of the occupants of the duplex were outside.
Firefighters contained the fire to the deck, chimney, and a small portion of the attic above unit 101. The fire was under control by 12:08 a.m.
Fire damaged the attic, chimney chase and the deck. There was minor smoke damage inside the residence. There was no damage to the adjacent unit of the duplex.
The fire originated on the outside of the duplex. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
