On Sunday, February 13, 2011, at 12:26 a.m., the Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 4500 Block of NE Webster Drive. Smoke alarms alerted the residents to smoke filling the house from a vehicle fire in the garage.
When the fire department arrived, there was nothing visible from the outside of the single family residence. Everyone was out of the house.
Firefighters entered the smoke filled structure and quickly extinguished a vehicle fire in the basement garage before it could extend into the rest of the house. The fire was under control by 12:45 a.m.
The fire heavily damaged the garage with moderate smoke damage throughout the remainder of the house.
The fire originated in the vehicle. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
