Romance and the aroma of good food will be in the air at the new Aspen Room of The Stanley Historic Events Space at the end of October. Summit Theatre Group will produce Love Letters by A. R. Gurney as a dinner theatre on October 24-27. Love Letters, directed by Ben Martin, is the moving story of a lifelong relationship between a man and a woman told through the letters they write to each other. We watch them grow from impetuous 8 year olds all the way to mature adults in this unique and inventive show. Special music will be performed by Jon Tucker and Dave Owens before and during the show.
Playing the parts of Andy and Melissa are Chad Burris and Emily Davenport. Doors open and a full multi-course buffet dinner begins at 6:00 p.m. The performance of the play will begin at 7:00. However, on Sunday, October 27th a pair of guest performers, John Beaudoin, publisher of the Lee’s Summit Journal, and Trisha Drape, Executive Director of Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street, will step in to play the roles during a special matinee performance.
Dinner that day begins at 3:30 (right after the Chiefs game) and the show begins at 5:00.
Tickets are $32 for adults and $30 for seniors, 60 and over, or students. They can be ordered online at www.summittheatregroup.com or at Lee’s Summit Hy Vee stores. Tickets must be purchased in advance. No tickets will be available at the door on the day of the performance.
Even as STG prepares its last show of this season, it is looking ahead to the 2014 season. Join us at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, November 2 for a special season announcement party at The Emaline Ballroom. Snacks, drinks and fun will be featured leading up to the big moment when the season will be revealed.
