Summit Theatre Group Seeks Directors for 2015 Season

Summit Theatre Group issues a call for applications from potential directors for the 2015 season. 

Directors are encouraged to submit between 1-3 different proposals for shows next year. 

The Show Selection Team has decided the general guidelines below for each production, but directors are free to propose titles and concepts for each date.
 
Performance Date:   November 15, 2014
Type of Production:  2015 Season Announcement and Fundraising Gala
Description:  A musical theatre revue created from volunteer and recruited performers and their musical choices.
Location:  Emaline Ballroom or TBD

Performance Date:  March 18, 20, 21, 22
Type of Production:  Light Comedy
Description:  A small to medium size cast non-musical comedy that can be performed with limited scenic requirements in a small black box facility.
Location:  MCC-Longview Cultural Arts Center

Date:  May 23, 24, 25  Added show for 2015 only
Type of Production:  The Toby Show - Directed by Ben Martin, searching for Ass’t Director/Stage Mgr who can handle major responsibilities during Ben’s travel schedule conflicts.
Description:  Old-Fashioned Tent Theatre Presentation in conjunction with the Lee's Summit Sesquicentennial celebration.
Location:  Location TBD

Date:  June 25, 26, 27, 28
Type of Production:  Small scale musical or revue
Description:  A small adult cast show that can be produced with limited scenic requirements.  Combo sized accompaniment.  STG prefers live accompaniment
Location:  MCC-Longview Cultural Arts Center

Date:  Late August or early September (depending on when the Legacy Park Amphitheatre is ready)
Type of Production:  Large outdoor Musical
Description:  A large cast family-friendly musical that will fill an outdoor stage. Full pit preferred over canned accompaniment.
Location:  In conjunction with Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation. Grand opening of the new Legacy Park Community Amphitheater. 
Date:  October 15, 16, 17, 18
Type of Production:  Serious Drama
Description:  Small to medium size cast size drama about a serious social issue.  We would like to partner with a social service organization to support their work.
Location:  MCC- Longview

Date:  November 21
Type of Production:  2016 Season Announcement Gala
Description:  A musical theatre revue created from volunteer and recruited performers and their musical choices.
Location:  Emaline Ballroom or TBD

Date:  December 11, 12, 13
Type of Production:  Winter/Christmas Dinner Theatre Play or Small Musical
Description:  A play or small musical with a winter or holiday theme with very limited scenic and technical requirements.
Location:  Emaline Ballroom or TBD
 
Application should include:
1. Letter of Interest
2. Resume with special attention to directing experience
3. Proposal including title and production concept
4. Potential creative staff, if decided. (Optional, STG can help find creative staff members)
 
Tentative Decision Schedule:
Application Deadline:  August 15, 2014
Interviews Scheduled:  September 1-12
Directors notified:  September 22 (November 15 gala director will be selected earlier)
Formal Announcement:  November 15
