Tenth neighborhood team launched
October 11, 2012
In partnership with the Kansas City Police Department and neighborhood leaders, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s launched today its tenth neighborhood prosecution team in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
Today’s launch focused on the Town Fork Creek neighborhood, roughly between Blue Parkway and 55th Street, Prospect Avenue and Swope Parkway. Prosecutors, police and neighborhood leaders went door-to-door in the area today, talking about the new effort and giving information on the new program to residents and business owners.
In October 2011, Baker promised to establish 10 new neighborhood prosecution teams, with assistant prosecutors and others from the Jackson County Prosecutor’s office working closely with neighborhood groups and community leaders. The first team launched in October 2011 in the area of 27th and Prospect Avenue.
“For the last year, I’ve made neighborhood prosecution one of the key focuses of my office,” Baker said. “Law enforcement in Kansas City can only improve if it is a better partner with the community.”
